Sotheby's hosting huge sale in HK

Auctioneer Sotheby's has announced one of the biggest sales it has ever held in Asia, with over 2,000 lots being offered over two days in early October.

Taking place from 4-5 October in Hong Kong, over 2,200 lots of all the leading labels in blue chip fine wine will be on offer with a pre-sale estimate of HK$107-149 million (US$13.7-19.1m).

The sale is based upon three single owner collections. The biggest - 'The Distinguished Cellar of a Pioneering Collector" - features over 1,000 lots worth HK$37-50m and features near equal amounts of Bordeaux and Burgundy from all the great domaines as well as a vertical of Harlan Estate in magnums.

Adam Bilbey, head of Sotheby's Wine, Asia, said: "Sotheby's wine is on the way to achieving its largest year of sales in Asia, with three extraordinary wines and spirits sales this season.

"Leading the season are two private collections, which offer a unique opportunity to acquire wines from the finest producers from both Burgundy and Bordeaux, while Finest & Rarest Wines and Spirits is headlined by magnificent Californian wines from the legendary collector Park B. Smith, alongside a diverse offering catering to all tastes and budgets."
